Presentation

The objective of the II UFSC International Philosophy Colloquium, at Federal University of Santa Catarina, is to promote the visibility of research by female philosophers from different areas, countries and regions of Brazil. This initiative is based not only on our experiences as postgraduate female students in Philosophy in Brazil, shaped by the lack of representation, but also on a pioneering research carried out by professor Carolina de Melo Bomfim Araújo, in which she observes that among Postgraduate students in Philosophy in Brazil there are 28.4% women and 71.6% men [1]. In a more recent article by Professor Carolina, although she identified an unprecedented increase of more than three percent increase in the number of doctoral female students, the results related to the number of women, in general, in Graduate Studies still seem to represent a scarcity [2]. Despite this, in this same article she also identifies a consistent increased number of widely publicized academic events that relate philosophy and women and an increased number of mentions to the issue of the relationship between philosophy and women on the website of ANPOF (National Association of Postgraduate in Philosophy). Thus there seems to be a movement in favour of a change of scenery, which aims to encourage the entry, permanence and progress of women in Philosophy. Given these, it is our desire to make our edition of this colloquium part of this movement. For this reason, all conferences and roundtables will be conducted by female philosophers and about their researches. However, in order to maintain the colloquium as a dissemination space for the researches of the Postgraduate students in Philosophy, the theme of the submissions is free, as long as it meets the criteria stipulated in our announcement. Keeping in mind the theme of this edition, you, female philosopher, are our special guest. We hope to meet everyone at our event on November 8th, 12th, 17th, 19th, 23rd and 25th, 2021.
